May 28, 2020  |  by Zhao xh

The cotton textile prosperity index in April 2020 was 46.51, a decrease of 5.31 compared with March. As the pace of resuming production and business in China continues to accelerate, the order of domestic economic operations is being restored in an orderly manner, and the consumer market is gradually picking up.
In April, the raw material purchase price index was 45.67, which was a decrease of 5.58 compared with March. In March, the prices of cotton and non-cotton fibers generally fluctuated in a range. In terms of varieties, the prices of cotton and viscose staple fiber decreased significantly, and polyester staple fiber price showed a “∩” trend, and the average monthly price drop was smaller than that of cotton and viscose staple fiber. At the beginning of the month, the major oil exporting countries reached a consensus on production cuts, which led to a rebound in cotton futures prices. However, due to the lack of improvement in market demand, domestic cotton purchases and sales were still in a cold state. The price boost lacked fundamental support, and then fell slightly. In terms of chemical fiber staple fiber, the price of viscose staple fiber fluctuated slightly; the price of polyester staple fiber was linked to the price of oil, and it was at a high price in mid-April, about 6,300 yuan per ton. In the early hours of April 21st, Beijing time, WTI’s May crude oil futures settlement price closed at -37.63 U.S. dollars per barrel, which closed at a negative value for the first time in history. The price of polyester staple fiber was affected by this, and the price fell sharply to less than 6,000 yuan. The domestic average price of 3128 grade cotton in the month was 11,454 yuan/ton, down 501 yuan/ton from the previous month; the average value of CotlookA index was 63.63 cents/lb, down 4.06 cents/lb from the previous month; the average price of main viscose fiber was 9,053 yuan/ton, a month-on-month decrease of 427 yuan/ton; the average price of 1.4D direct-spun polyester staple fiber was 5,787 yuan/ton, a month-on-month decrease of 185 yuan/ton. The raw material inventory index in April was 47.45, down 1.26 from March. The April production index was 47.24, down 6.96 from March. The product sales index in April was 45.33, down 8.33 from March. The April product inventory index was 46.56, a decrease of 2.3 compared with March. The business management index for April was 45.71, a decrease of 6.13 compared with March.
