Italian textile machinery: Orders in Q1 declined significantly

May 27, 2020  |  by Zhao xh

A few days ago, the ACIMIT released the textile machinery order index for January - March 2020, which was 72.2 (base: 2015 = 100). It is reported that the index fell 31% compared with the same period last year.
Italian textile machinery manufacturers have performed poorly on new orders in Italy and abroad. Among them, the order volume in the foreign market decreased by 26%, while in the domestic market, the order volume decreased by 57% compared with the same period last year.

Alessandro Zucchi, Chairman of ACIMIT, commented on the current market situation: “Compared with the same period in 2018, the order index of Italian textile machinery in 2019 has been negative growth, the output of the Italian textile machinery industry fell by 13%, and exports fell by 14%. However, the order index for the first quarter of 2020 is still down.”

After a tough 2019, Italian textile machinery had to face the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in early 2020. In January, the COVID-19 pandemic led to a slowdown in demand in China, Turkey and India, the main markets for orders in the Italian textile machinery industry.
