“Silk Road E-commerce” has become a new bright spot in economic and trade cooperation

As one of the important activities of China International Fair for Trade in Services in 2019, China E-Commerce Convention was held in Beijing on 29th, during which China E-commerce Report 2018 was officially released. The report shows that in 2018, the scale of e-commerce transactions in China continues to expand and maintain a high-speed growth trend. In the whole year, e-commerce transactions amounted to 31.63 trillion yuan, an increase of 8.5% year-on-year, online retail sales amounted to 9.01 trillion yuan, an increase of 23.9% year-on-year.
At the same time, the coordinated development of China’s e-commerce and express logistics has entered the fast lane. In 2018, the total business volume of China’s express service enterprises reached 50.71 billion pieces, an increase of 26.6% year-on-year, and the total business income reached 603.84 billion yuan, an increase of 21.8% year-on-year.
 
It is worth mentioning that China’s comprehensive pilot zone of cross-border e-commerce has continued to carry out policy innovation, accelerated two-way interaction of global brand goods, and cross-border e-commerce has entered a new stage of upgrading and development. In 2018, China’s cross-border e-commerce imports and exports totaled 134.7 billion yuan, an increase of 50% year-on-year. According to the report, “Silk Road E-commerce” has become a new business card to promote international cooperation and a new bright spot in bilateral economic and trade cooperation.
 
“E-commerce has become an important booster for promoting the transformation and continuation of new and old kinetic energy and upgrading and transformation of traditional industries. It is also the new pioneer of opening up and the construction of “Belt and Road”. Li Chenggang, assistant minister of Ministry of Commerce of China, said that the international influence of “Silk Road E-commerce” has been expanding. In just three years, China has signed a memorandum of understanding on e-commerce cooperation with 18 countries, and has launched several government - enterprise dialogue meetings to promote policy exchanges and industrial docking, thus providing a platform for mutually beneficial cooperation among enterprises.
 
He pointed out that at present, the global economy is accelerating into a new era of intelligent integration. The trend of digitalization, networking and intellectualization of traditional industries is becoming more and more obvious. Digital economy with data as the key factor of production is becoming a new economic form after agricultural economy and industrial economy. E-commerce is the most active and concentrated form of digital economy. Next, China will seize the opportunity of the electronic commerce law, foster the healthy development of the new ecosystem of e-commerce, perfect relevant supporting laws and regulations, and promote the construction of credit system. It will build a new pattern of opening up and development of e-commerce, and develop the international cooperation of “Silk Road E-commerce”, and deepen exchanges and cooperation with other countries and regions along the “Belt and Road” to accelerate trade liberalization and facilitation.
