Xinjiang textile and garment exports decline in 2018

Recently, it is learned that the region-wide imports achieved rapid growth, exports showed a slight decline in 2018 from Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous region Development and Reform Commission. The total volume of imports and exports for the year was 132.617 billion yuan, down 4.7% from the same period of the previous year, of this total, imports were 23.685 billion yuan, up 19.5 percent, and exports were 108.932 billion yuan, down 8.8 percent. The whole area clothing, textiles and other major export products have declined significantly, including, clothing exports totaled 27.304 billion yuan, accounting for 25.06% of the total value of exports, down 17.8%. The export of textile yarns was 6.884 billion yuan, down 30.2%. Cotton and other products import rapid growth, cotton imports of 1.245 billion yuan, an increase of 67.7%.
Border trade, processing trade declined significantly, while general trade, bonded trade maintained rapid growth. The import and export of small amounts of trade at the border of the autonomous region was 79.886 billion yuan, down 14%, accounting for 60.2% of the total import and export trade of the region, including the export of 773.6 billion yuan, the decrease of 15%, the import of 25.26 billion yuan, the increase of 29.5%. The processing trade was 8.02 billion yuan, with a decrease of 11.1%. The import and export of general trade totaled 47.235 billion yuan, an increase of 23.3 percent, accounting for 35.61 percent of the region's total import and export trade, of which 29.203 billion yuan was exported, an increase of 26.3 percent; and 18.032 billion yuan, an increase of 18.7 percent. Bonded logistics imports and exports of 2.557 billion yuan, an increase of 15.5 percent.
