New azodyes testing methods for textiles and leather under REACH Annex XVII

EU restricts 22 azodyes in leather and textiles under the EU REACH Annex XVII entry 43 and four testing methods are designated.

CEN’s updates on the designated standards are as below (except to EN ISO 17234-2):

Where textiles and leather articles come into direct or long-term contact with human skin or oral cavity, the detection limit of azocolourants and azodyes is 30 mg/kg. OEKO-TEX also designates EN 14362-1 and EN 14362-3 as the testing methods for azodyes in textiles. C&K Testing advises to test the products as per the most stringent requirements.
