The main reason for the decrease of the sown area is the water resource shortage and the competition for land for grain and cotton in Xinjiang, which is mainly affected in Changji, Shawan and other regions.

 

At the end of August and the beginning of September, according to SCI99.com data, it is estimated that Xinjiang’s cotton output in 2021 will be 5.25 million tons, down 8.7 percent year-on-year, but 4.7 percent higher than the average output value from 2017 to 2019.

 

In addition, according to statistics, although the slow growth of cotton in Xinjiang in the second half of the year has improved, but it is still difficult to change the early adverse weather on the slow growth of cotton.
