In Ningbo, Zhejiang province, exports were 111.4 billion yuan in the first two months of the year, up 53.4 percent year-on-year. While the booming foreign trade import and export industry has brought sufficient orders to many enterprises in Ningbo, it has also put pressure on the employment of enterprises.
In industries such as textiles and machinery, some companies face the risk of being unable to fulfill orders on time due to labor shortages. In Juexi Street, Xiangshan County, Ningbo City, there are more than 500 knitting enterprises. At present, the labor gap of the knitting industry is as high as about 20 percent. The machinery industry is also not optimistic.
It is understood that the reasons for the current labor shortage in Ningbo are, on the one hand, the rapid increase in labor demand due to sufficient orders; on the other hand, with the increase of employment opportunities in the central and western regions, more and more migrant workers choose to work locally.
