According to statistics from Hangzhou Customs, both imports and exports of Zhejiang Province achieved substantial growth in August. Among them, Zhejiang’s exports in August reached 238.41 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 16.5%; imports reached 74.35 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 15.4%.

On the whole, Zhejiang’s foreign trade situation continued to pick up. From January to August, Zhejiang’s total import and export volume reached 2.12 trillion yuan, an increase of 7.1% year-on-year. From January to August, Zhejiang’s total exports were 1.58 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 6.1%, and the growth rates of exports and imports were significantly higher than the national average. During the same period, Zhejiang’s export growth rate continued to rank first among major eastern coastal provinces and cities.

 

From a market perspective, Zhejiang’s imports and exports to ASEAN and South Korea showed double-digit growth, and imports to and exports to major markets such as the United States were better than the whole. From January to August, Zhejiang’s exports to ASEAN and South Korea increased by 18.6% and 24.3% respectively. As Zhejiang’s largest foreign trade market, Zhejiang’s imports and exports to the United States reached 316.26 billion yuan from January to August, an increase of 11.8% year-on-year, which was 4.7 percentage points higher than the overall growth rate of Zhejiang’s imports and exports.

 

From the perspective of product structure, Zhejiang’s exports of high-tech products provide an important impetus for Zhejiang’s foreign trade growth. From January to August, Zhejiang exported 697.15 billion yuan of mechanical and electrical products and 121.57 billion yuan of high-tech products, a year-on-year increase of 9.8% and 19% respectively. In addition, epidemic prevention materials are still an important part of Zhejiang’s exports. From January to August, Zhejiang’s exports of masks, protective clothing, infrared thermometers and goggles totaled 60.5 billion yuan, accounting for 3.8% of Zhejiang’s total exports during the same period.
