On June 27, 2020, the major project launching ceremony of Wujiang District was held at the site of the National Advanced Functional Fiber Innovation Center project in Shengze, with 59 major projects with a total investment of 88.18 billion yuan. So far, all key projects in Wujiang District have been started in the first half of the year. From the perspective of funding sources, the 35 Wujiang projects started from a private source, with a total investment of 64.58 billion yuan, accounting for 73.3% of all projects; 3 foreign-invested projects, with a total investment of 476 million U.S. dollars, accounting for 3.7% of all projects; 21 government-invested projects with a total investment of 20.3 billion yuan, accounting for 23% of all projects.

Of the 59 projects, 40 are industrial projects, with a total investment of 68.07 billion yuan, accounting for 77.2% of all projects. Among them are 9 scientific and technological innovation carrier projects including Wujiang National Advanced Functional Fiber Innovation Center. It is reported that Wujiang National Advanced Functional Fiber Innovation Center has a total investment of 1.15 billion yuan and covers an area of 225.5 mu. It is the 13th national innovation center in China and the first national innovation center in Jiangsu province. It is also the first national innovation center led the construction by private enterprises in China. It is planned to build an innovation center industrial park integrating R&D laboratories, testing centers and pilot bases, focusing on overcoming the efficient and flexible preparation technology of fiber materials, and developing key fiber common technologies such as cutting-edge fiber new materials.
