U.S. cotton export weekly report shows significant increase in Chinese contracts

The U.S. Department of Agriculture report shows that on April 17 - 23, 2020, the net contracted volume of U.S. upland cotton for 2019 - 2020 was 98,600 tons, a significant increase from the previous week. The newly signed contracts are mainly from China (95,800 tons), Vietnam (3,152 tons), Pakistan (907 tons), Bangladesh (589 tons) and Malaysia (317 tons). The main cancellation of the contract is Turkey (2,086 tons).
The contracted net export volume of upland cotton in the United States for 2020 - 2021 is 33,600 tons. The buyers are China (26,100 tons), Turkey (3,787 tons) and Vietnam (2,699 tons). The U.S. shipment of upland cotton in 2019 - 2020 was 57,500 tons, a decrease of 5% from the previous week, and a decrease of 31% from the average of the previous four weeks, mainly to Vietnam (16,300 tons), Turkey (3,787 tons), Pakistan (7,983 tons) , China (6,554 tons) and Bangladesh (6,033 tons). The net contract volume of Pima cotton in the United States in 2019 - 2020 was 90 tons, a decrease of 82% from the previous week and a decrease of 60% from the average of the previous four weeks. The newly signed contracts are mainly from Turkey (45 tons) and Indonesia (45 tons). The shipment of Pima cotton in the United States in 2019 - 2020 was 1,587 tons, a decrease of 1% from the previous week and a decrease of 67% from the average of the previous four weeks. It was mainly shipped to China (408 tons), Pakistan (385 tons), Bahrain (295 tons) and Turkey (272 tons).
