Jiangsu textile and apparel products exports increased by 3.7% year-on-year

Nanjing Customs recently released the latest statistics showing that from January to May, Jiangsu’s foreign trade import and export was 1,696.42 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 0.9%. In terms of products, the export of labor-intensive products in Jiangsu Province was 164.06 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 6%. Among them, textile and garment exports reached 120.06 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 3.7%.
From January to May, the import and export of general trade mode in Jiangsu Province reached 859.95 billion yuan, an increase of 4.1%, accounting for 50.7% of the total import and export value of Jiangsu Province in the same period, and an increase of 1.5 percentage points over the same period last year. On the market, imports and exports to the EU, ASEAN, South Korea and Japan were 293.43 billion yuan, 221.32 billion yuan, 199.05 billion yuan and 159.83 billion yuan, respectively, increasing by 9.2%, 11.6%, 1.2% and 2.5%, while imports and exports to the United States were 239.74 billion yuan, down by 9.3%. The five accounts for 65.6% of the total import and export value of the province. Over the same period, Jiangsu’s total imports and exports totaled 412.48 billion yuan to the countries along the “Belt and Road”, an increase of 9.8%, which is 8.9 percentage points higher than the overall growth rate of the whole province, accounting for 24.3% of the total foreign trade. Among them, imports and exports to Vietnam, the Philippines and Saudi Arabia increased by 23.4%, 39.9% and 15.4%, respectively.
