“Standard” catalyzes the birth of a “high quality towel” in home textiles

From January 1st, 2019, a standard for “cotton towels” was officially implemented! ––The “Fine Cotton Towel” group standard. In other words, in the future, the cotton towel that meets the group standard of “Fine Cotton Towel” must be a “high quality towel”! Advance into the high-end market and enhance the competitiveness of China’s towel industry. The group standard of “Fine Cotton Towel” came into being.
What criteria should a “high quality towel” meet?
The group standard of “Fine Cotton Towel” puts forward high requirements for raw materials and unit area quality of finished products, and from the internal quality and external quality (including sewing process) of the final products, pays attention to details and creates high-quality products. Some items in the standard directly refer to the requirements of Class A in “Towel” (GB/T 22864) and “National Technical Specification for Basic Safety of Textile Products” (GB18401), such as breaking strength, depilation rate, soaping fastness, etc. Some items are superior to those in “Towel” (GB/T 22864) and “National Technical Specification for Basic Safety of Textile Products” (GB18401) in category A requirements, such as water absorption, pH, etc. At the same time, according to consumer demand, increased individual project indicators, such as unit area quality, washing size change rate, loop hook tension, yellowish fastness.
It is worth mentioning that, compared with the previous “Towel” standard, the group standard of “Fine Cotton Towel” is the progress from “a good towel” to “a high-quality towel”. Many of these indicators are not required in the “Towel” standard, but they are clearly put forward in the “Fine Cotton Towel” group standard.
