According to the data of China National Commercial Information Center, the retail sales of 50 key large-scale retail enterprises increased by 5.5% year on year in April, 2.6 percentage points higher than the same period of last year, and 2.4 percentage points higher than last month. Amont them, 31 enterprises achieved positive growth, an increase of 4 over last month.
For category, 50 key large-scale retail enterprises realized an increase year on year on the retail sales of most categories in April.
China Consume Online Index of Jingdong TH capital in April, showed that online sales grew by 27% year on year in April, while up by 32% from January to March. Shen Gaoming, researcher of China Economic Monitor, indicated that the sub industry has rebounded in link index, of which children’s wear showed stable growth; women’s clothing was lower than the overall growth rate of clothing and shoes; growth of underwear was gaining speed with high innovation; men’s and lady bags with slight growth, but functional bags with strong rebound.
Shen Gaoming analyzed that children’s wear was in stable growth and women’s clothing was lower than the growth of shoes and hats for a long term, while the traditional clothing showed a fastest growth, the reason of which was that the decision-making body was parents, so the extension to childern’s garment brands for adult brands could bring additional market. As for the situation of underwear, home textile products, and bags, the Internet manufacturers continued to enrich category layout of brand ecological chain. In addition, the growth of sportswear and sports shoes gradually decreased. In spite of a slight growth in April, it’s inevitable to be ease for the growth of it, and it was again lower than that of clothing,shoes and bags.
According to National Bureau of Statistics, the growth of China’s clothing retail sales has rebounded. The sales of basic living commodities above designated size has increased 10.8%, up by 1.2 percentage points over last month. Among them, clothing, shoes, hats and knitwear and daily commodities has increased by 10% and 8% respectively, up by 3.6 and 0.9 percentage points. From January to April of 2017, retail sales of clothing, shoes, hats and knitwear above designated size reached 477.9 billion yuan, an increase of 7.1%; in April, the retail sales reached 112.6 billion yuan, up by 10.0% year on year.
