SHOW TOWN • China Graduate Fashion Week 2017: Dancing new generation of design talents

SHOW TOWN • China Graduate Fashion Week 2017 was kicked off in the Beijing Fashion Design Plaza of 751D·PARK in Beijing on May 13th, 2017. As an internationally professional service platform for well-known Chinese and foreign fashion colleges to publicize and promote their teaching achievements, for college students to display their design creative talents, boost college students’ employment and entrepreneurship, this graduate fashion show will further enhance the connection between business and innovation, and promising design talents and marketing. In addition, there were more than 70 professional activities, including fashion shows, forums and theme lectures, personnel recruitment, professional contests and award ceremony. This fashion creative feast attracted over 1,500 vigorous post-90s graduates from 53 well-known fashion and arts institutions to present 49 graduate shows in seven days.
 
The graduate fashion week has expanded its size of participating colleges and universities this year. For three years, the participating numbers of colleges and universities have increased from 22, 24 and 32 in the former three years, to 53 this year. Mr. Zhang Qinghui, Chairman of China Fashion Association, and Chairman of the Organizing Committee of China Graduate Fashion Week, thought that, the increasing number of Chinese and foreign colleges and universities in this event year by year, indicates that the platform role of fashion week in integrating various resources, focusing on mass entrepreneurship and innovation, promoting industry-university-research-use cooperation and providing comprehensive employment guidance and support for graduates has been highlighted and widely recognized."
 
48 Chinese colleges and universities from 19 provinces and cities attended this fashion week. Compared with the 12 provinces and regions in last year, it hit an increase of 58%. Among them, 13 colleges and universities made their debut on this fashion week and 10 colleges and universities have attended the fashion week for five consecutive years. 9 colleges and universities have attended the fashion week for four consecutive years. More than 30 colleges and universities have attended the fashion week for three consecutive years.
 
Among the 5 overseas colleges and universities, University of Southampton from England and Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti Milano from Milan have been attending the fashion week for three consecutive years. This year also welcomed Curtin University from Australia and Faculty of Art and Design, Durban University of Technology from South Africa. There were more than 200 Chinese and international media for on-the-spot coverage.
 
During the fashion week, except for graduate shows, there are two wonderful design contests: SHOW TOWN • 9th China (Chang shu) Leisure Wear Design Elite Award Contest and the 22nd China Fashion Young Talent Award
 
For the purpose of “promoting the connection between design and market”, DHUB Design, after its successful gathering of nearly 200 new Chinese and international fashion brands in the Mercedes-Benz China Fashion Week, launched DHUB Pop-up Store with the theme of “Dancing Youth” from May 14th to May 20th during this fashion week. It gathered eight dynamic, avant-garde fashion and jewelry brands, namely “B +”, “VEECO ZHAO”, “UYEN”, “LENGTHEN”, “Bronze Lucia” and MIRANDA VUKASOVIC, MVINTAGE NAZE, and the creative design works in the gradate shows were displayed and sold. The DHUB Pop-up Store, with the business operation mode by diversified integrating new design brands and excellent graduate shows, show and sale and interactive art, brought unique consumer experience, allowing more young designers  to connect with customer and experience the balance of value between business and creativity. The brand new DHUB Pop - up Store will enrich the function of business landing for graduate fashion show.
