On March 18th, “Textile Industry Waste Textile Resource Utilization Exchange Conference” with the theme of “Working Together - Zero Waste of Used Clothes” sponsored by the CNTAC was held in Shanghai. At the Conference, the “Evaluation Report on Environmental Benefits of Used Clothes Recycling and Resource Utilization”.
It is reported that China, as the world’s largest producer and consumer of textiles and apparel, produces 6 million tons of waste textiles each year in the production and consumption links. However, due to related institutional mechanisms and recycling systems, the overall efficiency of recycling waste textiles is still low.
In recent years, the textile industry has vigorously promoted the regeneration of cellulose fiber, which is also a good example of waste textile recycling, greatly reducing the consumption of resources and energy, and reducing pollutant emissions.
