Sichuan Ningnan County has vigorously developed the sericulture industry. At present, the output value has exceeded 3 billion yuan, accounting for half of the county’s GDP, and it has become a benchmark industry to consolidate the achievements of poverty alleviation.

Ningnan county is located at the junction of Sichuan and Yunnan, where the temperature is about 20 degrees all the year round and the light and heat resources are rich, which is very conducive to the breeding of sericulture. With the help of leading enterprises, Ningnan raw silk has gained brand influence and voice in the international market through overcoming technological difficulties in recent years. In addition to exquisite craftsmanship, Ningnan raw silk has a stable output of high-quality cocoons.

 

Ningnan County uses intelligent information technology to achieve strict quality control of silkworm cocoons. A series of technological innovations have brought a comprehensive upgrade to the sericulture industry. During the 13th Five-Year Plan period, the county has completed 1,490,300 silkworms, produced 1.375 million quintals of cocoons, and farmers’ income from cocoon sales reached 3.015 billion yuan.

 

According to the plan, by 2025, Ningnan County will build more than 6 tourist spots with sericulture as the main line, and receive more than 300,000 tourists annually.
