The latest statistics from the Pakistan Statistics Bureau show that in the second half of 2020, the main industry driving exports is the textile industry, with a total export value of USD 7.44 billion, an increase of 7.79 percent year-on-year.
Among them, knitwear exports increased from USD 1.587 billion in the same period in 2019 to USD 1.850 billion, a year-on-year increase of 16.55 percent; towel exports were USD 446 million, a year-on-year increase of 17.47 percent, and garment exports were USD 1.497 billion, a year-on-year increase of 5.54 percent.
In the second half of 2020, the main textile products with a decline in exports are: raw cotton exports fell by 96.14 percent year-on-year, and cotton yarn exports fell by 26.36 percent year-on-year.
