Dec 29, 2020  |  by Zhao xh

Since August this year, the global apparel import market has begun to recover and resume positive growth. There was a single-digit increase in September and October, reflecting the recovery of the retail industry and the recovery of global apparel demand.

According to the latest data, Germany apparel imports increased by 13.4% in September compared with the same period last year; France apparel imports increased by 14.8%, and only 0.5% in October. British apparel imports have rebounded in August, up 12.3% year-on-year, and in September the increase reached 27.2%. Spanish apparel imports did not resume positive growth until September, and the Japanese market remained sluggish in October. U.S. apparel imports in September and October fell by 9.6% and 3% year-on-year respectively, while in October they rose by 7.9%.

Affected by the second outbreak of the COVID-19, the rebound in apparel imports in the fall may end, triggering a new round of order cancellations in low-income countries. Judging from the performance of some countries, the import of knitted garments is more affected by the COVID-19 than woven garments.
