Recently, 6 cotton cultivars, including Zhongmian 12, Zhongmian 49, Zhongmian 65, Zhongmian 88, Zhongmian 92 and China Cotton 113, cultivated by the Institute of Cotton Research of CAAS, have been reviewed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and have obtained import and export seed business licenses and customs declaration registration certificates, allowing exports to the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Tajikistan along the “Belt and Road” countries.
The first export approval of cotton cultivars is of great significance to promote China’s agriculture to “go global” and to achieve the integration and development of the entire industrial chain of cotton technology, textiles, and trade with Central Asian countries.
It is reported that cotton is an important economic crop in countries along the “Belt and Road” and has long played a pivotal role in the national economies of Central Asian countries. As the only national-level cotton research institute in China, the Cotton Research Institute actively responds to the “Belt and Road” initiative and vigorously implements the strategy of “going global of technology and importing raw cotton” for cotton. In recent years, through building bases, dispatching experts, and transportation technology, we have deeply promoted cooperation in the cotton technology industry in Central Asia, and made important contributions to improving the cotton production level of countries along the “Belt and Road”, and achieved remarkable results.
