Recently, CBN Data and Tmall Apparel jointly released the “2020 Hanfu Consumer Trend Insight Report”. Data shows that hanfu market has experienced explosive growth in the past three years. The number of consumers who have placed an order on the Alibaba platform to purchase hanfu is approaching the 20 million; in 2019, the transaction value of hanfu exceeded 2 billion yuan on Taobao platform for the first time.
The report also shows that among the consumers who buy hanfu on Tmall, female consumers account for nearly 80%, and women born in the 90s and 95s are the main consumers. On Tik Tok, there are more than 1 million short videos with hanfu as the theme, with a total of more than 30 billion views.
According to data from Tmall, there are more than 20 million consumers buying hanfu on Tmall. In the past three years, the Tmall hanfu industry has grown six times. Xiao Feng, the head of Tmall’s women’s hanfu industry, predicts that the potential consumers of hanfu will exceed 400 million in the future.
