Style Hong Kong Pavilion, organized by Hong Kong Trade Development Council, once again was in the spotlight at the China International Clothing and Accessories Fair (CHIC) 2012, not only highlighting its 5,600 square meter wide exhibition booths, but also featuring the unique Hong Kong fashion trend.

According to the organizing committee, 60 Hong Kong exhibitors brought their outstanding apparel, handbags, leather goods, accessories and footwear brands to CHIC, including HH presents TATTOO, Dorian Ho, iiJin, Satami, Love Generation, MORELINE, Vincelle, Coolmax, etc., showcasing their special fashion factors and design concept.

Furthermore, in the Style Hong Kong Pavilion, a central display district was especially separated, presenting the winning collections of the 12th Hong Kong Footwear Design Competition, visitors could appreciate the original design of those newly-emerged Hong Kong fashion designers.

Style Hong Kong Pavilion offered a professional sourcing platform for nation-wide apparel industries, department store representatives, franchisers and retailers in China. Fashion design as well as the exquisite manufacture could better fulfill the market demand of domestic consumers. Through the CHIC fair, buyers could further understanding the products’ characteristics, find the latest design trend, and explore the cooperation with Hong Kong merchants. Besides, HKTDC specially provided match-making service to exhibitors and buyers, assisting them to establish commercial cooperation relations, and jointly explore suitable apparel retail industrial development modes for both sides.

“Design and Brand Management District” would be one of the features for Style Hong Kong Pavilion this time, aiming at promoting the professional Hong Kong design concept and management strategy. In this District, the visitors could exchange and communicate with Hong Kong designers, sharing their experiences in the fields of store design, retail environment, space, branding management planning and some other specialized services.

Fashion show, as always, is the most direct and effective way to show the brand image. In Style Hong Kong Pavilion, more than 20 brands took part in the fashion show. Of them, Handsome Hero Holdings Limited (HH) would be one of the highlights.

HH is a Hong Kong/Shanghai based retail fashion and designer platform. HH has a talent team, who are expert in the Chinese domestic retail market, and HH makes great effort to bring the best design and brand to customers, especially introducing them into the Hong Kong and Chinese mainland markets. Recently, HH has already owned the dealership of over 40 international designer brands, including the well-known Spanish brand MANGO, IMAGE and Italian luxury brand Byblos, etc.

Interview with Ralph Chow, Director of HKTDC Product Promotion
During the CHIC fair, I have the opportunity to interview with Ralph Chow, Director of HKTDC Product Promotion, he generously shared with us the favorable relationship between HKTDC and CHIC.

Q: Since the initial edition of CHIC in the year of 1993, HKTDC has cooperated with CHIC as one of the co-organizers of the trading fair. As HKTDC is the international marketing arm for Hong Kong–based traders, manufacturers and service providers, usually, how does HKTDC choose its co-operators?

A: Each year, being the official organization to promote the international trade for Hong Kong-based enterprises, HKTDC would organize those Hong Kong-based small and medium sized enterprises of different industries to exhibit in Chinese mainland and other cities around the whole world, showcasing the qualified Hong Kong products and services.

Usually, in order to find the right co-operators, we would consider about the following aspects, such as the organizers’ exhibition scale, experience, supporting facilities of the exhibition area, the content of the exhibition, the list of the exhibitors, and so on. If we target the suitable exhibition fair, we would organize our Hong Kong enterprises to attend.

Q: Why did HKTDC choose CHIC as one of its exhibition co-operators?

A: The CHIC fair, sponsored by China National Garment Association, China World Trade Centre Co., Ltd and The Sub-Council of Textile Industry, CCPIT, has already been held successfully for continuously 20 years.

This year, nearly 1000 brands from America, France, Italy, Germany, Spain, Korea, Japan, Greece, Turkey, Israel, Hong Kong, and some other 21 countries and regions were attracted to take part in the Fair, making CHIC a real international brand exhibition fair markedly. Meanwhile, it is estimated that nearly 110,000 domestic and overseas professional visitors attended the fair, including apparel specialists, buyers, franchisers, retailers, and the representatives from the fields of department stores, independent brand stores, chain stores, etc.

CHIC provides a platform for apparel brand promotion, market exploration, trend release, as well as commercial communications, and it is also offers our Hong Kong-based enterprises the opportunities to promote our brand collections and seek the business cooperators. Therefore, our HKTDC would continuously organize our Style Hong Kong pavilion to participate the CHIC fair actively.

Q: After establishing the cooperation relationship, how do you see or evaluate the development of CHIC during the years?

A: HKTDC has established the favorable relationship with CHIC for many years, and we could find that CHIC has already achieved significantly progresses and developments: not only in exhibition spaces and scales, but also in the content that more and more domestic and overseas well-known apparel brands gradually pay more attention to this exhibition platform.

Since the year of 2008, the CHIC moved to the New China International Exhibition Centre, aiming at providing better modern facilities and offering more comprehensive and professional exhibition services to both exhibitors and visitors.

Recently, the whole fashion world gradually turn their focus on the exploration of the potential Chinese market, and CHIC has already become one of the most important apparel exhibition fairs in Asian area. Our HKTDC is very glad to join in the CHIC fair every year, and CHIC would go further in the future.
