Vietnam imported USD 4.1 billion of fabric in the first four months of 2019

According to the data of the General Statistics Office of Vietnam, Vietnam’s imports in April 2019 amounted to about USD 20.6 billion, a decrease of 2.6% over March and an increase of 17.6% over the same period in 2018. Among them, the imports of Vietnamese-funded enterprises increased by 18.5% and the imports of foreign-funded enterprises increased by 17%. In the first four months of 2019, Vietnam’s cumulative imports amounted to about USD 78.05 billion, an increase of 10.4% over the same period in 2018. Among them, Vietnamese enterprises’ imports amounted to USD 32.8 billion, an increase of 14.4%, and foreign enterprises’ imports amounted to USD 45.25 billion, an increase of 7.6%.

With regard to the import market, in the first four months of 2019, China remained Vietnam’s largest source of imports, with an import value of USD 22.3 billion, an increase of 18.8% over the same period last year, followed by South Korea’s USD 15.5 billion, an increase of 3.1%, ASEAN’s USD 10.8 billion, an increase of 9.2%, Japan’s USD 5.7 billion, a decrease of 1.4%, EU’s USD 4.6 billion, an increase of 14.8%, America’s USD 4.2 billion, an increase of 14.3%.
 
The trade deficit in April 2019 was about USD 700 million. In the first four months of 2019, the accumulated trade surplus was about USD 711 million, of which the deficit of Vietnamese-funded enterprises was USD 9.46 billion and that of foreign-funded enterprises (including crude oil) was USD 10.17 billion.
