Yarn Expo Opened China’s Market

Jul 03, 2013  |  by
The 2013 edition of Yarn Expo Spring presented a new record of nearly 200 exhibitors from seven countries and regions, all looking to take advantage of strong Chinese yarn output figures from last year and a booming domestic economy. Yarn Expo, located for the first time at the National Agriculture Exhibition Center in Beijing, covered 6,500 sqm in halls one and three. Participating countries and regions include China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Pakistan, Singapore and Switzerland.

This year sees an increase in Indian suppliers attending the fair, with the India pavilion – organized by Texprocil, the Cotton Textiles Export Promotion Council of India – doubling in size compared to last year. While the Pakistan zone, also in hall 3, featured the latest high-quality and competitively priced yarn, including many high-count, natural, synthetic and elastic varieties to choose from.

This year’s China Fiber Hall theme is ‘Fiber of the World, Beautiful China’, and could be found in hall 1. Within this concept, four themed display areas and special zones helped buyers identify the latest trends and applications of different fibers. They included:

• Chinese fiber trends 2013 / 2014 – green, recyclable and low-carbon fibers: the 2013/2014 trends surrounding environmental-friendly materials.
• Shenghong cup Chinese fiber innovation – Fiber of the World, Beautiful China: featuring fabrics, interior textiles, carpets and fashion designs to promote the concepts of eco-friendly, the recycling economy and low-carbon art.
• Chemical fiber regeneration and recycling zone – promoting low-carbon and eco-brands: three regeneration topics including low-carbon lifestyle, green outdoors and environmental protection.
• New generation of polyester fibers – lifestyle of the young generation: the latest trendy polyester fibers on display.

In recent years, due to the fact that China’s cotton yarn import is not subject to quota restrictions and the import cotton yarn price is lower than the domestic price, China’s cotton textile enterprises prefer to import cheaper cotton yarn from abroad. The increase of China’s import demand has driven up the exports of India and Pakistan, a growing number of enterprises of India and Pakistan begin to focus on China’s market.

Enterprises from India and Pakistan have become the most active exhibition groups in this yarn expo. This year, the Cotton Textiles Export Promotion Council of India (Texprocil) actively organized the national groups to participate, bringing the latest cotton yarn, information processing technology and the industrial developments of India-Pakistan to China, which is enough to prove that China’s market is full with huge potential.

According to India textile department data, from January to November in 2012, India’s cotton yarn export to China totalized over 222,000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 78,000 tons. However, Pakistan is still the first and largest cotton yarn supplier for China. Over the same period, Pakistan’s total exports reached 392,000 tons, seeing a year-on-year increase of 202,000 tons. The price advantage makes India and Pakistan yarn popular in China.

The Yarn Expo Spring and Autumn edition held in Beijing and Shanghai respectively last year, provided a harvest to overseas exhibitors, which is also one of the reasons that makes a high growth of overseas exhibitors this year.

Last year, Mr. Briean Kapadia, the representative of India Nabira Exports Company exhibited in the yarn expo, showed that a face-to-face meeting with trade business and clothing manufacturers is their goal. He said: “Now China undoubtedly is the biggest textile product industry market, accounting for 50% of the sales. We are full of confidence in entering China’s market.”

Dewan Mushtaq Group from Pakistan, a long-term exhibitor in Yarn Expo, has developed their business in China for over 25 years. Mr. Atif Ansari, the manager of the company mentioned: “This exhibition with a face-to-face communication, brings consumers to our booth for more details about the products directly, is an outstanding platform to connect with consumers from China and Hong Kong, which is helpful to explore new market and popularize the brand. I think the buyers’ quality is also very remarkable, they come from all over the world, including China, Europe, South Africa, Turkey and Russia.”

The overseas enterprises are hot, in addition to the advantage of low prices, there are deeper reasons.

After the rapid development for over 30 years, various manufacturing costs in China have reached a certain height. China is calling enterprises for higher and better products by eliminating part of the backward production capacity gradually, and adjusting the industry structure step by step. However, countries like India and Pakistan mainly produce yarn products just make up China’s gaps in the field of low-grade yarn, which is not only a test, but also an opportunity for domestic companies.

According to previous yarn exhibitions, enterprises with unique feature and differentiated products almost achieved good results. On the other side, it reflects the market demand and the development trend in the future, making China’s enterprises clear about that the technological and innovative brand is the magic weapon to win.
