Yarn Expo China kicked off March 29th with 130 upstream yarns and fibers suppliers from ten countries including China (105 exhibitors), India (26 exhibitors), Pakistan (8 exhibitors), plus individual exhibitors from Hong Kong China, Indonesia, Singapore, Switzerland, Thailand, Turkey, and Vietnam. The three day event was hosted at the China World Trade Center and featured a variety of natural fibers and yarns including cotton, wool, flax/ramie specialty products; elastic, fancy and blended yarns as well as regenerated and synthetic man-made fibers.
A highlight this year is the Indian pavilion organized by The Cotton Textiles Export Promotion Council (Texprocil) which is a non-profit international marketing organization for manufactures of cotton yarns, fabrics and garments from India. It grouped 26 suppliers in total showcasing cotton yarns, blended yarns, and mélange yarns for knitting and knitted fabrics.
“China has always been and still is one of the important trading partners in India’s textile sector,” commented Mr. Ravi Narayanaswamy from Texprocil. “Even though we have not participated in any trade fairs in the last five years, we are taking a different approach with the China market and taking part in the best fairs in the region in order to maintain a presence of Indian companies in China,” he added.
First time participant, Nahar Spinning Mills believes it is a great platform to showcase products. Anil Anand, GM (Exports) said, “Besides our regular customers, we expect to meet new ones.” Pratibha Syntex, a regular for three years, was expecting to do good business on back of strong enquires.
Also a first time exhibitor, Santosh Kumar from Rajvir Industries Limited said to the writer that, “It is a good exhibition. A lot of people are coming, but we have to check up how many seers are buyers, and after going back we will study how many businesses we get. So far it has been good, quite good. ” “That Indian exhibitors came here in a form of group, well organized, is very convenient for us. Because most of us know each other,” he added. He also told the writer that next year he will definitely come here.
During the interview, the writer found that the overseas exhibitors gave high praise to the Yarn Expo, however, some participants also made suggestions that they hope the organizers could organize more activities so that the sellers and the buyers would have much more opportunities to talk to each other for more business opportunities based on good communication.
Besides the India pavilion is the Pakistan Zone which also featured cotton yarns at competitive price points. Meanwhile domestic exhibitors grouped according to products including cotton yarn zone, linen/ramie zone, man-made fiber and yarn zone, and debut nylon zone.
“India and Pakistan have much better prices in terms of cotton yarns compared to China thanks to their lower raw material and labor costs, however, we have more advantages in producing chemical fiber yarns,” said Zhu Chunguang, Yarn Marketing Manager from Shandong Demian Incorporated Company. Mr. Narayanaswamy also spoke of bridging the gap in demand of supplies within the two countries textile industry sectors. “India has a surplus production of cotton and cotton yarns, whereas, in China there is a net shortage of cotton and cotton yarn as required by their spinning and weaving sectors, and we are trying to help connect both countries in order to complement each other’s strength,” he said.
According to Mr. Zhu, in terms of yarns, Demian mainly produces high count ones from 40 to 120, and 160 counts are also possible. At present the company also focuses on the production of differentiated fibers, special yarns, and cellulose fibers, etc. At the pavilion, a kind of yarn named corn protein yarns is placed in a conspicuous location, attracting a lot of visitors. Zhu explained that it is the company’s newly product which contains 10% corn collagen for skin care so that it is more suitable for the underwear.
This exhibition comprehensively displays the theme of “Fashion, Technology, Green”, manifesting the development trends as well as the latest trends of today’s yarn industries at home and abroad with new ideas and new attitude. The exhibits embrace the fibers of common concern including functional fibers, differentiated fibers, high-performance fibers, special fibers, and new chemical fibers. The qualified exhibits as well as the activities will contribute a lot in strengthening the cooperation and communication between domestic and overseas textile enterprises.
