Undertaking the mission of industrial development to build a more valuable exhibition

Interview with Liang Pengcheng, Vice President of the Sub-Council of Textile Industry, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT TEX)

In spite of the extremely complex and severe domestic and foreign environment, China’s national economic development has maintained a sound development momentum with the industrial structure constantly adjusting, old driving force replaced by the new one, and enterprises’ quality and efficiency steadily improving. All these indicate that China’s textile industry is accelerating its entry into a high-quality development period. Concerning the economic development status in the first half of 2018, China’s textile industry has impressed both the domestic and foreign market with its splendid performance. On the one hand, there is a growing demand for upgrade and transformation of the domestic market equipment. On the other hand, with implementation and promotion of the “Belt and Road” Initiative, the equipment made in China has embraced greater development opportunities on the international market. Under such a big environment and background, ITMA AISA + CITME 2018 will be held on October 15th. This exhibition will not only be a platform for trade transaction, but also shoulder the mission of industrial development. The state-of-the-art technologies and equipment will be demonstrated on this exhibition. For the coming period of time, these technologies and equipment will remain a beacon of textile development in Asia and even the world at large.

By integrating trade exchange, technology exchange and tendency prediction, ITMA AISA + CITME has made its name as the largest global textile machinery exhibition this year. The exhibition has attracted 1,700 textile machinery enterprises from 28 countries and regions, including China, Germany, Italy, Japan and Switzerland. Among them, around 1,200 exhibitors are from Mainland China, and the remaining 500 or so are overseas exhibitors.

Holding fast to the technological development trend
At present, textile machinery enterprises have made tremendous efforts in equipment and technology innovation in response to the market demand for efficiency improvement, cost reduction, environmental protection, and intelligence. Automation, intelligence, networked resources and mobile Internet technologies have made the single machine manufacturing improving unit production efficiency and the complete set equipment and technology innovation for continuous production possible. At the same time, to reduce the production cost of the textile industry has become a critical direction of textile machinery technological innovation. For example, growth of long spinning frame with automatic doffing has maintained at certain scale. This has not only reduced the labor use of textile enterprises, but also improved the product quality and brought down the comprehensive cost of final products by a large margin. Besides, product technologies have been used to transform and improve the traditional equipment. This has, to a large extent, addressed relevant needs of some textile enterprises.

Meanwhile, through new technologies and applications, the intermediate production links can be more closely and efficiently combined so as to improve consistency and interchangeability of components. In this way, more products with a superior quality can be turned out in unit time. This has constituted a major development direction of the textile machinery industry in the coming few years. The above trends and new characteristics have been fully reflected in ITMA AISA + CITME 2018.

Building the innovation and connection bridge
Innovation has been an eternal theme of development. Currently, domestic textile machines have been recognized by more and more users from other parts of the world. This has been an undeniable fact. Moreover, products in some fields and of some categories have reached the world’s leading level. Nevertheless, the gap between the overall level of domestic textile machines and the world’s leading level still exists. Therefore, how should textile machinery enterprises develop and produce more world-leading products? How should the innovation achievements be exported from campuses and research institutions to industries and enterprises?

In order to cope with the above problems, the organizers has set up the “Research and Innovation Zone” for the first time, which serves as a platform for technological exchange between enterprises and universities. Exhibitors meeting requirements of the “Research and Innovation Area” can apply for subsidies, and the highest can enjoy 50% off. It is reported that dozens of colleges and institutions, including Donghua University, Tianjin Polytechnic University, Wuhan Textile University, Jiangnan University, Zhejiang Sci-Tech University, Xi’an Polytechnic University, and Jiaxing University, will appear in the “Research and Innovation Zone” for the first time.

Deeply digging the service potential
ITMA AISA + CITME 2018 is indispensable not only because of its large scale but also because of the constant growth of its overseas visitors. Many exhibitors express their gratefulness to the platform for they do not have to go abroad to communicate and negotiate with global customers. In fact, the percentage of overseas visitors in ITMA AISA + CITME organized so far has accounted for 20% to 25% of the total. Along with rapid development of the emerging textile production industrial bases in Turkey, India, Bangladesh, Vietnam and Pakistan, as well as development of the textile industry in relevant countries, such as East Europe, under the guidance of the country’s Belt and Road policy, the number of overseas visitors this year will hopefully refresh the previous record.

What improvements should be made to increase convenience of visitors’ participation in the exhibition? How should the time for exhibitors and visitors to wait in lines be shortened? This is a serious issue that the organizers of every exhibition should take into consideration. The organizers of this exhibition have also made tremendous efforts in this aspect. For example, from the exhibition layout to the channel design and to the onsite signs, the organizers have conducted serious planning. Entrances are set up between exhibition halls to increase their accessibility. By working with professional companies, the organizers have set up quick navigations for visitors. In order to create a more comfortable negotiation environment, the organizers will control the length of time for running equipment display more strictly and reasonably.

This year mark marks the 11th year of ITMA AISA + CITME (2008 - 2018) which, so far, has been widely acknowledged as an indispensable platform for textile machines to display themselves worldwide. Over the past few years, the huge brand influence of the exhibition has attracted a large number of loyal fans. The constant latest technologies and equipment can inject more and more vigor into the exhibition. In the future, the organizers will devote more passion to improvement of the exhibition service abilities. Only in this way can we live up to the expectation of exhibitors and visitors, contribute to high-quality development of the industry through more valuable exhibition, and undertake the mission of industrial development.
