Preparing for the Winter Olympics to promote winter sports
the General Administration of Sport of China and BIFT jointly build a national winter sportswear equipment R&D center

On December 30, 2019, the signing and unveiling ceremony of the General Administration of Sport of China Winter Sports Management Center and the Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology (BIFT) to build a “National Winter Sports Equipment R&D Center” was held at the Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology.
The R&D center was established in response to General Secretary Xi Jinping’s comments on “high-quality preparations for the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, and do all the preparation work, especially to prepare for the competition, accelerate the popularization and improvement of winter sports, and strive to hold a wonderful and outstanding Olympic Games”.
The General Administration of Sport of China Winter Sports Management Center and BIFT will jointly do a good job in the science and technology support services for the 2022 Winter Olympics national team. On the one hand, we will do a solid job in providing clothing and equipment services for training and the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics; on the other hand, we will promote the development of mass winter sports.
At the meeting, Hong Ping and Zhan Binghong signed the cooperation framework agreement on behalf of both parties. Ni Huizhong and Ma Shengjie unveiled the R&D center. In his speech, Ma Shengjie introduced the work of BIFT in serving the national strategy and serving previous Olympic Games. He said that BIFT will gather the whole school’s strength to do a good job in the science and technology to help the Winter Olympics service security work, especially the “key technologies for high-performance clothing research and development in winter sports and training competitions” project was approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology’s national key research and development plan “Science and Technology Winter Olympics” special project, BIFT is combining the superior resources in the global to serve the development of clothing equipment for national training teams.
According to the complex climate and environment conditions of Winter Olympic Games training and competition, the R&D Center develops race and skill sub-item competition clothing adapted to the physical characteristics and physiological characteristics of Chinese athletes based on the “human body-clothing-environment” system. The project training and competition clothing has drag reduction, protection, heat and humidity comfortable high-performance clothing. It is committed to building a cross-disciplinary international advanced industry-university-research platform that integrates winter project training and competition clothing material selection, functional design, sample production, and ergonomic analysis. And has helped China’s winter sports 2018 - 2019, 2019 - 2020 two seasons of national training team clothing and equipment research and development.
