In the afternoon of September 20th, 2018, the parallel forum of the First World Textile Merchandising Conference themed on “Openness · New Linkage” was held in Keqiao District, Shaoxing City, China. Over 200 representatives in the textile and garment industries from countries like Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Burma, Laos, Cambodia, Egypt, Turkey, Kyrgyzstan and Canada as well as representatives from the national textile and garment industry participated in the forum.
On this forum, China Textile Information Center, Vietnam Textile and Garment Association, Cambodia Garment Manufacturers’ Association, Laos Textile Industry Association, Malaysia Textile Manufacturers’ Association and Burma Garment Manufacturers’ Association jointly sponsored and signed the manifesto of founding China • ASEAN Textile & Garment Productivity Promotion Alliance.
The alliance aimed at promoting prosperous, healthy and orderly development of textile and garment industries in China and ASEAN members, propelling China and ASEAN members to realize mutual benefit and reciprocity in the textile and garment field, attempting to create China • ASEAN region into a world textile and garment production and consumption region with the greatest vigor, and realizing the economic prosperity and development balance goals of the whole China • ASEAN region. In the future, it will be dedicated to promoting development of textile and garment enterprises in China and ASEAN members and trans-regional and trans-national cooperation and communication.

This forum specially invited Vice Chairman of Vietnam Textile and Garment Association and CEO of Vinatex — Le Tien Truong, President of Indonesia Textile Association — Ade Sudrajat Usman, Dipl.Lng, Vice President of Zhejiang (China) Textile Industrial City Group Co., Ltd. and President of Global Textile Net and Online Textile City — Wang Baitong, Former Chairman of Foreign Trade Commission of Federation of Egyptian Industries — Mohamed Kassem Abd EI Hay, Chief Researcher in Hejun Chancheng Research Center and Deputy Secretary General of Research Center of Strategic Emerging Industries in Tsinghua University — Zhai Zhanping, President of Jinyi Textile Business Development Group of Hong Kong Jinyi Group — Bao Jiming and President of Hangzhou E-Fashion Town Operation Development Co., Ltd. — Zheng Nianhua to share their ideas over transformation and support of traditional textile and garment industry, mutual industry-city promotion and coordinated development and feedbacks given by enterprises in textile and garment manufacturing industry to the primary industry through diversified exhibitions from textile and garment investment environment in regions like Vietnam and Indonesia in Southeast Asia, Egyptian textile and garment industrial environment as well as internet tools like global textile net and online light textile city, etc.
At the end of the forum, the guests discussed about the relationship between future textile and garment industry and urban development from the angles of international development and industrial linkage, thus indicating the idea regarding the industrial development direction for guests participating in the conference.
