2nd November, 2015 – Beijing, China – CNITA, the China Nonwovens & Industrial Textiles Association, and EDANA, the leading global association serving the nonwovens and related industries, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to support the joint organisation of the EurAsian Geotextiles Symposium (EAGS) in June 2017 in Beijing, China.

Mr Pierre Wiertz, General Manager of EDANA, said: “We are proud to join forces with CNITA to create a unique new event. Together we will bring together all the key players in the field of Geotextiles. It is natural that this Symposium, the first of its kind, will be held in China, one of the most dynamic markets for geotextiles. Our objective is to support the growth of production and deliveries in Eurasia.”

Mr. Li Lingshen, President of CNITA, added: “As CNITA we see this cooperation with EDANA as synergistic and beneficial for the entire industry. We look forward to working together to make the EAGS a success, it will be a pleasure to host this event and connect producers of geotextiles with new customers and suppliers.”

The Asian geotextile market is expected to have the largest demand for geotextiles in the coming few years with China leading the regional claim. Asia Pacific was the largest regional market for geotextiles, accounting for over 43% of global geotextiles consumption in 2013. There is a growing demand for geotextile fabrics in the Asia Pacific region due to large infrastructural projects. Countries such as China and India have highlighted geotextiles in their economic plans.

CNITA and EDANA are committed to further support their member companies in the development of markets for durable applications of nonwovens and related products, including geotextiles.

Featuring a conference and an exhibition, the EurAsian Geotextiles Symposium is designed to cover both nonwoven and woven geotextiles and to encompass the entire value chain, from raw materials to buyers and users of geotextiles, in Greater Europe and Asia.

The Symposium will cover the following themes:
·         Best practice in specifications of geotextiles
·         Improved understanding of the market for geotextiles
·         Identification of new opportunities for growth

More details on the Symposium will be released at a later date.
