Indian cotton spot price to rise: CAI

Apr 13, 2021  |  by Zhao Xinhua

Atul Ganatra, president of the Cotton Association of India, told reporters recently that the spot price of cotton in India would rise.

Atul Ganatra said India’s cotton production for the 2020 season was flat from the previous year at about 36 million bales. On the Bombay Mercantile Exchange, cotton prices were restrained by the impact of the outbreak in India and globally, according to a commodities analyst at an Indian brokerage. But nonetheless, after the sharp declines of the past few days, we are likely to see some pullback, and cotton prices will continue to rise over the next few sessions.
