Added value of Xinjiang’s textile industry in the first two months increased by 107.6 pct Y-o-Y

Xinjiang’s industrial economy got off to a good start in the first two months, with the added value of industrial enterprises above designated size growing 19.6 percent year-on-year, the highest in nearly 15 years.

According to the Department of Industry and Information Technology of the Autonomous Region, Xinjiang’s coal, electricity, oil, gas and transportation key factors of production have been guaranteed enough this year. The industrial chain and supply chain of enterprises are stable, and the industrial economy has continued to improve. In the first two months, Xinjiang’s accumulative power generation capacity was 76.47 billion kilowatt-hours, up 22.7 percent year-on-year. Xinjiang’s electricity transmission volume was 17.76 billion kilowatt-hours, up 45.2 percent year-on-year; Railway cargo shipments totaled 29.371 million tons, up 15.3 percent year-on-year.
 
In the first two months of the year, all 14 prefectures and cities in Xinjiang recorded positive growth in industrial added value. Among Xinjiang’s ten key industries, equipment manufacturing, textile, agricultural and sideline food processing, building materials, steel, coal, electric power, nonferrous metals and chemical industries maintained double-digit industrial growth, while the petroleum industry maintained steady growth. It is worth mentioning that the production load of Xinjiang textile and apparel enterprises has recovered rapidly. The output of yarn and chemical fiber in Xinjiang has increased by 84.2 percent and 10.6 percent year-on-year, respectively. The operating income of textile and apparel enterprises above designated size has increased by about 30 percent, and the textile and apparel industry has turned a loss into a profit. In the first two months, the added value of the textile industry increased by 107.6 percent year-on-year.
 
Xinjiang will help enterprises solve specific problems and promote the steady growth of Xinjiang’s industrial economy this year.
