The growth rate of textile exports slows down in July, and the decline of apparel narrows

The data on national trade in goods from January to July 2020 released by the General Administration of Customs of China on August 7 shows that with the gradual easing of the global pandemic and the decline in demand for pandemic prevention materials, the growth rate of textile exports in July slowed down compared with the previous period. The purchase demand for apparel in major markets rebounded, and apparel exports tended to improve, and the decline was significantly narrower than the previous period.

Textile and apparel exports in USD: From January to July 2020, the total textile and apparel exports were USD 156.48 billion, an increase of 5.6% (national merchandise trade exports decreased by 4.1%), of which textile exports were USD 90.08 billion, an increase of 31.3%, and apparel exports were USD 66.4 billion, down 16.6%. In July, textile and apparel exports were USD 31.3 billion, an increase of 16.1% (national merchandise trade exports increased by 7.2%), of which textile exports were USD 15.98 billion, an increase of 49.3%, and apparel exports were USD 15.32 billion, a decrease of 5.7%.
