Record the Development of Chinese Textile Industry, Witness A Great Rejuvenation of the Chinese Nation
China National Textile & Apparel Council (CNTAC) took nearly three years to produce a set of large docudrama “Silk Road” which gathered the efforts from China’s high-end television creative team, senior industry experts, and cross-industry scholars. The 16 episodes of the 21 ones of the docudrama were broadcasted in the CCTV in September and October 2012, which was well received within the industry. CNTAC together with
China International Television Corporation published “Silk Road” CD, and its first publication ceremony was celebrated on December 20th of 2012.
Textile China
According to Wei Lin, Director of CNTAC Press Center, “Silk Road” presents, vividly and profoundly, the prelife and this life of Chinese “big textile industry” based on the sound and massive documentary as well as the systemic and comprehensive images. Under the background of thousands of years of splendid Chinese textile civilization, it shows hundreds of millions of audience that Chinese contemporary “big textile industry” is a great undertaking of the time that twenty million Chinese people in textile are struggling for in an endless way; a basic career that is related to China’s over 100 million cotton, wool, silk, and linen peasants and herdsmen’s harvest; the people's livelihood industry that guarantees 1.3 billion populations’ needs for clothing and fashion; the main foreign exchange earning industry of China's general international trade; one of the representatives of “made in China” in the age of globalization.
Large television documentary “Silk Road”, from the points of history, culture, economy, as well as scientific and technological innovation, gives a full display of the rich connotation of Chinese textile industry, showing its irreplaceable status and role in the national economy and the people's livelihood.

This docudrama has gone beyond the category of general industrial TV Series, which presents a real performance from the far-reaching historical dimensions and the wide social perspective.
