The growth rate of textile and apparel exports in August

According to the statistics of the General Administration of Customs, the export volume of textiles and apparel in August was USD 25.71 billion, down 4.61% year-on-year (down 1.23% in RMB). Among them, textile exports in that month were USD 10.01 billion, down 2.44% year-on-year (up 1.06% in RMB); garment exports in that month were USD 15.70 billion, down 5.94% year-on-year (down 2.63% in RMB). Influenced by external pressure, the overall export growth rate of the textile and apparel industry in August dropped.
From January to August this year, China’s textile and apparel exports totaled USD 177.44 billion, down 2.0% from the previous year (an increase of 3.65% in Renminbi). Among them, textile exports totaled USD 79.40 billion, up 0.96% year-on-year (6.8% year-on-year growth in RMB), garment exports totaled USD 98.04 billion, down 4.26% year-on-year (up 1.24% year-on-year in RMB).
